Ft Myers Beach 9/11 Memorial
In remembrance of 9/11 we are honored to have been chosen to construct a 9/11 memorial right here in the Fort Myers area. Part of the memorial holds actual pieces left in the aftermath of this catastrophic event. Honor the memories of the victims of 9/11 with us here. Check out some of our photos of the construction of this memorial below.
A Ground Breaking Ceremony was held at Station 33. Among those that attended the ceremony and participated in the ground breaking were Fire Commissioners Dave Brower, Theodore Schindler II, Betty Goodacre, Fort Myers Beach Town Mayor Alan Mandel, and Contractors Brian Sullivan and Bill Boulton of Boulton Construction. More than 20 District personnel, members of the community and public made this event a day to remember!
The District was presented with a check from the Lani Kai for $10,000.00 to show support for the construction of the Memorial. Deputy Chief Tom Edge also presented a check for $1,000.00 from Local 1826. The fund raising event brought in a total of $15,637.26. Special Thanks to Employees of the Lani Kai and District Staff members who gave of their time to assure the event was a success!
